Budapest (Hungary)

Budapest, Hungary's capital, is a vibrant city situated on both banks of the Danube River, with the Buda Hills to the west and the Great Plain to the east. This unique geography necessitates innovative mobility planning to overcome natural barriers and enhance connectivity.

The Budapest Mobility Plan (BMT), approved in 2019, outlines the city's sustainable transport strategy through 2030. It builds upon the Balázs Mór Plan and includes a comprehensive Transport Development Investment Programme. The BMT aims to improve competitiveness, transport efficiency, and urban livability by promoting sustainable mobility solutions.

Public transport in Budapest is extensive and efficient, encompassing buses, trolleys, trams, and the metro system. The MOL Bubi bike-sharing network, launched in 2014, operates over 200 stations with over 2,400 bicycles, integrating into the EuroVelo cycling network.
