Valencia (Spain)

Valencia is located on the east coast of Spain and is the capital of the Comunitat Valenciana. It is Spain’s third-largest city and a key node in the Mediterranean Corridor, hosting one of the Mediterranean’s most important ports, ranked fifth in freight transport.

Between 2015 and 2021, the city reclaimed more than 150,000 square meters of pedestrian space. Since 2019, a Mobility Ordinance has guided the integration and sharing of public space, prioritizing vulnerable road users and supporting long-term mobility transitions. Valencia has developed an extensive cycling network, including over 160 kilometers of bike lanes, with significant expansion since 2016 through the reallocation of road space from motorized traffic. Public transport has also been strengthened through network optimization and fleet modernization, with more than half of buses now using hybrid or electric technologies.

You can find the current Mobility Plans of the city here and of the metropolitan area here.
