Genoa new flexible services for disabled persons

CIVITAS Initiative

Thanks to CIVITAS CARAVEL project, through the Agency for flexible services, on November 2nd, 2005 in Genoa, AMI - Azienda Mobilità e Infrastrutture, which is the responsible company for mobility and infrastructures in the city, launched a new flexible service for disabled persons. The new service, operated by three cooperatives and by the radio taxi company, covers all the systematic travels of the users.Part of this new service is a new call centre, directly managed by AMI.Up to now 450 users take part at the new service, which is offered by 120 vehicles.

The big change in the operative way of the Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) service for disabled persons has been managed through a deep cooperation between Municipality of Genoa, AMI and ATI (3 operators specialized in transport for disabled persons joined in only one company). In this first period, the service has been based on a mixed organizational structure: AMI call centre has received all users' requests, while ATI coordinators (thanks to their specific experience in the sector) have planned trips and managed drivers and assistants. In the near future all planning activities will be directly managed by AMI.Softeco Sismat has continued the development of software tools essential for management of the DRT service in the call center.Visit CIVITAS CARAVEL Genoa website
