CIVITAS Projects: Highlights over the last six months

CIVITAS projects continue to advance innovative, inclusive, and impactful mobility solutions across Europe. Over the past six months, several projects have reached important milestones, developed exploitable outcomes, and delivered effective dissemination and capacity-building activities.
This update provides a consolidated overview of recent achievements from across the CIVITAS Community.
Key achievements in Co-Creation and Stakeholder Engagement:
- AMIGOS developed and piloted the urban mobility co-design canvas (UMCoDC), a creative, game and art-based tool designed to capture citizens' mobility needs and preferences.
- MOVE21 released a White Paper on Public-Private Collaboration in Urban Mobility and Logistics, providing insights and recommendations for cities aiming to strengthen cross-sector partnerships.
Key achievements in Transferability and Twinning programmes:
- MOVE21 published the Guide to Multimodal Hubs in Urban Nodes, based on data from over 15 cities in eight EU countries. The guide offers policy recommendations for improving multimodal integration in line with TEN-T priorities.
- SENATOR presented success stories and policy insights at its closing event, reflecting in key learnings and project outputs.
- URBANE developed the Impact Assessment Radar, an open-source tool for assessing the readiness and adoption of Physical Internet-inspired logistics solutions.
Key achievements in Data Sharing and Digital Innovation:
- DISCO launched the Urban Freight Dataspace (UFDS), providing a secure digital environment for real-time logistics data sharing and operations support. A demonstration webinar is also available to showcase its functionality.
- GREEN-LOG released the Augmented Intelligence Modelling Platform and the Digital Control Tower, providing predictive demand analysis and real-time fleet management capabilities (publication pending EC approval).
- SENATOR finalised its Smart Operator Platform, enabling secure, GDPR-compliant data governance. The platform enables integration of multiple logistics stakeholders through anonymised and secure information.
Key achievements in Planning Tools and service optimization:
- DISCO also introduced the Meta Model Suite,a structured approach to guide cities in implementing DISCO-X measures through configurable digital tools and evaluation frameworks.
- CodeZERO published a behavioural study on real-time consumer decision-making in e-commerce delivery contexts.
- UPPER finalised its Measures Implementation Support Toolkit, which includes digital tools such as U-TWIN, U-SIM, U-NEED, U-GOV, and U-SUMP.
- JUST STREETS launched the Superblockify software, a Python-based tool to generate and visualise potential urban superblocks. While not linked to a formal milestone, the tool supports practical urban transformation planning.
E-courses and webinars:
MOVE21 launched two e-courses:
- Public-Private Collaboration Schemes, featuring case studies in micromobility and public transport partnerships.
- Innovation Capacity for Local Authorities, equipping local governments with tools and strategies to foster innovation readiness.
- SCALE-UP and MOVE21 co-developed an e-course on Integrating Mobility Services in Urban Nodes, targeting planners and decision-makers and available via the CIVITAS Learning Centre.
- UPPER, together with REALLOCATE and JUST STREETS, ran a webinar onStreets for All: Mobility as a Right & School Streets(February 2025), emphasising inclusive design and child-friendly mobility networks.
- SCALE-UP hosted a webinar on Behavioural Insights & Choice Design in Urban Mobility(February 2025), featuring case examples from participating cities and expert discussion on nudging behavioural change.
- Webinar onMobility Management Around Large Events (January 2025), organised jointly by MOVE21, SCALE-UP, and UPPER, explored strategies for managing transport around high-attendance urban events.
- In October 2024, UPPER, SPINE, and AMIGOS co-organised the webinarImproving Public Transport for a Changing Urban Landscape.
- At the RTR Conference 2025, UPPER and SPINE featured in the session: Unleashing the Innovation Potential of Public Transport, showcasing innovation in Public Transport systems.
Videos:
- SCALE-UP produced three project videos, one for each urban node (Antwerp, Madrid, Turku), highlighting project achievements in an engaging and accessible format for both experts and the general public.
- SENATOR released its final video wrapping up project outcomes
