2nd CIVITAS ELAN project meeting in Brno
From 13th - 15th of January representatives from the 5 CIVITAS ELAN partner cities attended the 2nd project meeting in Brno (Czech Republic) to work together on dissemination, evaluation, project management/coordination and research as well as RTD issues. For the last day of this meeting the host city organised a purpose-made training workshop on “Participatory Intermodal Infrastructure Planning”.
The workshop was integrated into one of the CIVITAS ELAN common measures which has amongst others, the objective of creating a platform for discussion and exchange of the knowledge and experience in the field of public transport. Furthermore the measure supports the set up of integrated public transport systems and systems of multimodal interchanges in the cities through cooperation between urban planning and transport planning. The introductory presentation was held by a distinguished international expert from the field, Mr Kurt Hultgren from Resenärsforum in Sweden. The workshop comprised presentations from all CIVITAS ELAN cities - Ljubljana, Gent, Zagreb, Brno and Porto - outlining the various approaches in planning and building of multimodal interchanges, with different roles of particular means of transportation, e.g. ”The redevelopment of Gent’s train station and its surrounding infrastructure” in the City of Gent, “or ”Intermodal Infrastructure Planning form an urbanistic point of view” in the City of Brno.
