On Monday, 14 September, CIVINET Greece-Cyprus, the Greek-speaking network of the CIVITAS Initiative, will host Greek Cities day, a side event of the CIVITAS Forum 2026.Â
The event will focus on the challenges faced by Greek cities, showcase their achievements, and highlight the solutions and innovations being developed by the private sector, the scientific community, and civil society. It also aims to serve as a bridge between the Greek experience and the European dialogue on sustainable mobility, which will continue and expand over the following three days at the CIVITAS Forum 2026.
For the first time, the CIVITAS Forum 2026 is being hosted in Greece. Taking place from 15–17 September at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall and selected venues across the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the Forum is Europe's leading conference on sustainable urban mobility. Supported by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, it brings together cities, public authorities, research organisations, businesses and mobility experts from across Europe.
This is a landmark occasion for everyone working, conducting research, or engaging in the field of urban transport and sustainable mobility. Backed by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), CIVITAS, the world's largest network of cities dedicated to sustainable mobility, will bring together representatives of cities, public authorities, research organisations, and businesses from across Europe in Thessaloniki.
As part of Greek Cities Day, the ART 2438 national campaign on accessibility and road safety, led by CIVINET Greece-Cyprus, will also conclude. The campaign promotes practical, ready-to-implement measures to improve accessibility and road safety for vulnerable road users in residential areas.
The event will be held entirely in Greek.
