Hamburg (Germany)

Hamburg, Germany's second-largest city, is actively pursuing sustainability in its mobility and transport sector. In 2022, 68% of journeys were made using public transport, bicycles, or on foot, with the goal to increase this to 80% by 2030. Key initiatives include the "Alliance for Cycling," which invested €87 million in 2020 and €91 million in 2021 to expand the cycling network, aiming for 280 km of routes.

The city also plans to digitalize its S-Bahn infrastructure to support autonomous driving, with a target of 10,000 autonomous vehicles on the road by 2030. Additionally, the "Hamburg-Takt" initiative aims to ensure all residents can access public transport within five minutes, reducing reliance on private cars.
