Views of elderly persons on future mobility

Report

The 2020 European Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy highlights key actions for making new mobility solutions affordable, accessible, and safe for all passengers, including those with specific access needs.

In this White Paper, the Horizon 2020 TRIPS project presents the mobility needs of elderly persons and their attitudes towards future mobility solutions, comparing their responses to those from people with disabilities and non-disabled participants. The findings from this comparison indicate that elderly people, people with disabilities, and non-disabled users share many of the same transit needs and priorities. Also, the findings indicate that a large portion of society would benefit from inclusive transit, a number far greater than the 135 million Europeans with disabilities.
