Upcoming NOVELOG workshops explore sustainable urban freight transport

The NOVELOG project provides guidance for the sustainable implementation of policies and measures for the urban freight transport system. In October, it is organising two workshops in Belgium that look into project findings to date and new urban freight solutions.

Workshop 1: “Sustainable and efficient logistics: what role for micro-consolidation?”

(Micro)-consolidation represents a way to deliver goods in a more efficient and effective way, with locker systems examples of smart consolidation.

As part of its participation in the NOVELOG project,  Mechelen is piloting smart locker systems. A workshop there will focus on the potential and opportunities of micro-consolidation centres, and the role of smart lockers in efficient and sustainable logistics.

The event is taking place on 10 October in Mechelen. For the full agenda, click here. To book your place, log into your CIVITAS account here (or create one here) and click on the ‘register’ tab at the top of the event page.

Workshop 2: NOVELOG cities’ stories, tools, and business models

Over the past two years, the NOVELOG project has developed four tools to support city logistics policy formulation and decision-making. These have been tested in 12 cities.

The preliminary outcomes from selected city cases will be presented at this workshop, which also includes an interactive session to discuss the most suitable business models for NOVELOG tools.

The workshop is taking place on 11 October in Brussels from 13:00 – 17:00 CET. For the full agenda, click here. To book your place, log into your CIVITAS account here (or create one here) and click on the ‘register’ tab at the top of the event page.

As part of #EURegionsWeek 2017, a session is also being organised on “Regions and cities as agents of change for sustainable urban freight transport” on 11 October in Brussels. Click here for details.
