Ghent makes freight distribution easier

Ghent has found a way to make freight distribution in the city easier: Since mid-March 2012, customers and suppliers can park in the Vlaanderenstraat neighbourhoods for distribution purposes only for 15 minutes free of charge. How does it work?

The four parking zones (Kuiperskaai, Lange Boomgaardstraat and two zones in Brabantdam) feature parking ticket machines. Customers and suppliers can take a free ticket for 15 minutes parking for freight distribution. The ticket is necessary to monitor the maximum time slot of 15 minutes. It guarantees that the parking lots are not occupied for more than 15 minutes. This ensures a quick delivery and loading time in the city centre. The parking zones are very recognisable. There are yellow markings around the zones. These markings highlight the new regulation of "Maximum 15 minutes with ticket" and display delivery symbols.
