As part of MOBILITIES FOR EU, an inspiring educational activity was recently implemented in one of its replication cities, Ioannina, focusing on sustainable urban mobility and environmental awareness.

This activity was coordinated by the University of Ioannina, Department of Primary Education, in collaboration with local partners, ensuring its strong educational and scientific foundation.

During the activity, children participated in a creative and interactive workshop where they expressed their ideas through drawing and artistic creation. Through their artwork, the students shared their vision for a safer, greener, and more accessible route to school.

They proposed solutions such as safer pedestrian crossings, bicycle-friendly streets, greener school surroundings, and improved public transport access, highlighting the importance of sustainable mobility in everyday life.

This action combined education, creativity, and experiential learning, allowing children to actively engage with the concept of sustainable transport and to understand how their ideas can contribute to improving their city. The activity encouraged environmental responsibility, critical thinking, and active participation from an early age.

Ioannina remains committed to continuing this journey of mobility together with schools and children, supporting educational actions that shape informed, responsible, and active citizens, and strengthening a culture of sustainability in everyday life.
