Summary

Aberdeen City Council has produced and adopted a number of key policies that point to the need for a range of demand management measures that support the delivery of a sustainable transport system. A number of these measures, particularly the car parking policies. have been benchmarked with other cities. Yet these have been limited in scope, whilst there is a lack of evidence to help understand their impact on travel behaviour patterns.

Implementing sustainable mobility

Within this measure, Aberdeen will review the range of demand management measures and assess their relative impact on travel choices and behaviours based on research from earlier rounds of CIVITAS (and other evidenced research). An appraisal will then identify the key components of demand management, especially the different aspects relating to parking policies that should be implemented within Aberdeen.
