On 10 January 2018, at the 97th TRB Annual Meeting, the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the European Commission Directorate General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) organised a joint session entitled “Sharing innovative, tested practices in sustainable urban mobility in European and US cities”.
Representatives from the US, EU and Canadian cities presented mobility initiatives. The EU-funded CIVITAS Initiative (which has implemented over 800 urban transport solutions in EU cities since 2002), Polis Network representatives, NACTO, leading researchers, and representatives and technical experts from the FHWA and U.S. Department of Transportation also shared their activities.
The meeting gathered a large group of participants and led to many new relationships being created and possible collaborations being explored between US, EU, and Canadian organisations working on smart, sustainable urban mobility.
The FHWA and DG MOVE prepared a joint meeting report, which can be accessed here.
The short presentations were compiled and can be downloaded here.
The agenda can be downloaded here.
