Sustainable Mobility: Cycling in Porto

Under the frame of CIVITAS Initiative, a workshop entitled: “Sustainable Mobility: cycling in Porto” will take place on the 26th of February 2014 in collaboration with the school grouping “Agrupamento de Escolas Alexandre Herculano (Porto)”.

The event is targeted at young students, who will have the opportunity to get familiar with the CIVITAS Initiative and participate in a set of interactive activities addressing sustainable urban mobility. In particular the workshop will focus on promoting city cycling among the young generation, and for that purpose counts also with the collaboration of MUBI Association (“Associação pela mobilidade urbana em bicicleta”).

Topics addressed during the event include:

  • CIVITAS Initiative (digest for students)
  • Myths - Porto is a cycling city
  • Cycling experiences in the city
  • The highway code and the bike
  • How to ride a bicycle in the city?

The event is expected to gather around 150 secondary education students (from 12 to 16 years old) and is also combined with a drawing competition run in the same school grouping – “Mobility in my city” (urban mobility through the eyes of the youngest passengers and commuters).

*Participation is restricted to those unvited
