Třebíč (Czechia)

Třebíč is a historic town in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic, with around 34,500 inhabitants and covering about 58 km². Its river-valley location, spread across the Jevišovice Uplands, shapes transport corridors and brings challenges in connecting outlying districts efficiently to the compact historic core. To address growing traffic and environmental pressures, the municipality has completed a Plán udržitelné městské mobility (SUMP), a strategic sustainable urban mobility plan that analyses current travel behaviour, infrastructure gaps and proposes measures to encourage walking, cycling and enhanced public transport while managing private car use.

The Plan prioritises active mobility infrastructure, optimising bus services, improving safety through “school streets,” and considering park-and-ride facilities to shift trips out of the centre. The SUMP was developed through public engagement and expert input, supported by smart city funding, and aligns mobility improvements with quality-of-life goals, reflecting broader sustainability objectives including climate adaptation.
