Mykolaiv (Ukraine)

Mykolaiv is the biggest river port in southen Ukraine, which is located on the river the Southern Buh.

Mykolaiv is a big city of nearly 489.000 inhabitants. Its area covers 260 square kilometers and located just 50 km from the Black Sea. 137 km of waterfronts are situated within the city boundaries along the Southern Buh river, a navigable waterway. Mykolaiv is linked to other major Ukrainian metro areas by three European transport corridors and is served by Kherson International Airport. It is a major railway centre connected to other Ukrainian regions and Europe. Mykolaiv has a rich industrial heritage that centered around shipbuilding for over a century.

Plans for 2017-2018:

  • to create a public transport development strategy;
  • to elaboration of the transport model;
  • to modernize of public transport (procurement of new buses and trolley-buses, modernization of contact network an extension of the trolley-bus line);
  • to build bicycle lanes.
