Miskolc (Hungary)

Miskolc, Hungary's fourth-largest city, is committed to improving its sustainability through a range of urban mobility initiatives. Situated at the foot of the Bükk Mountains, the city’s varied topography influences the planning of transport infrastructure, particularly in ensuring connections between urban areas and surrounding natural regions.

The public transportation network is managed by MVK Zrt., which includes 36 bus lines and 2 tram lines, as well as the scenic Lillafüred Forest Train that connects Miskolc to the Lillafüred area. As part of its Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), Miskolc has focused on integrating electric and hybrid buses into its fleet, promoting cycling, and enhancing pedestrian infrastructure to reduce car dependency. These actions are part of a broader effort to reduce emissions and improve air quality in the city.
