Dubrovnik (Croatia)

Dubrovnik, historically known as Ragusa, is a city in southern Dalmatia, Croatia, by the Adriatic Sea. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, a seaport and the centre of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. In 1979, the city of Dubrovnik was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in recognition of its outstanding medieval architecture and fortified old town.

One of the specific objectives from integrated Action Plan for Dubrovnik as a Sustainable Tourism Destination is the introduction of a sustainable, smart and socially conscious mobility system. The aim is to develop a more livable and sustainable future, and resolve the challenge of traffic system being overloaded. The design of all mobility measures need to be suited to the citizen's needs and need to be developed according to the possibilities offered by smart management.

There are three main challenges to approach: inadequate traffic infrastructure and traffic organization, inconsistent smart solution implementation and lack of citizens habit of using alternative mobility forms. Therefore, the main goals proposed to be achieved are: the improvement of traffic infrastructure and traffic organization, the implementation of integrated smart solutions within public transport sector and the promotion of benefits of alternative mobility usage.
