Bacau (Romania)

The Municipality of Bacau is currently facing several challenges when implementing the goals described. On the one hand, there is poor connectivity of the road network caused by the existence of anthropic and natural barriers. Other difficulties that Public Transportation is dealing with in Bacau is the lack of lanes dedicated to public transport which has a direct impact on the punctuality of public transport and also that public transport is not managed by the City Hall. These all cause a high degree of motorization (400 cars / 1000 inhabitants) which negatively influences the condition of the streets.

When dealing with the complexities of Urban mobility, Bacau Municipality aims to improve the efficiency of transport services and infrastructure. In order to achieve this, some of the targets are: to reduce the need for motorized transport, the impact on the environment, and the energy consumption for transport activities. However, it is crucial to us to accomplish all these, without forgetting to ensure an optimal level of accessibility. By accessibility, we not only mean ensuring a good connection within the locality and around the metropolitan/peripheral area, but also the universal access to mobility for all kinds of people, including persons with disabilities. In the end, it is all about making sure that we create a safe environment for the population.
