Summary
A large category of people face challenges in using public transport or moving around cities. This includes not only people with long-term or permanent disabilities, but also the elderly, people with temporary injuries, or people travelling with heavy luggage or young children.
Due to these issues, these groups often depend on car travel to meet their mobility needs. Local and regional authorities can work to make urban environments and mobility more appropriate for these transport users, aiming to reduce their reliance on private cars.
The ISEMOA Quality Management System supports local and regional authorities in making continual improvements in accessibility to their mobility services. It takes into account all of the users listed above and entire journeys encompassing all mobility modes. Two guides have been produced, one with reference to local authorities and the other to regional authorities, as well as self-assessment questionnaires.
