Vitoria-Gasteiz holds cycling course for seniors

CIVITAS Initiative

Among the many activities organised during Sustainable Mobility Week in September, the City of Vitoria-Gasteiz held a course for seniors to learn to ride a bike. Four courses were organised in several places around the city and with different learning levels.

Up to 45 people attended the courses and got an acceptable bike riding level. This initiative was intended to allow those interested who did not learn to ride a bike to acquire basic skills that allow them to ride a bike when traveling around the city. Most of the students were women over 50 years of age. There was a great number of people that could not take part in the courses because there was not enough places for all the demand generated in relation to this activity. The success of this initiative encouraged the development of new editions in the coming months.
