Three new editions of CIVITAS Insights released

CIVITAS Initiative

The seventh, eighth and ninth edition of the CIVITAS Insights have been released, providing an overview on a range of CIVITAS topics.

Three further editions of the CIVITAS Insights, a series of 25 publications being developed under the CIVITAS CAPITAL project, are now available for download. CIVITAS Insights are compact publications that offer an overview on a certain topic, what has been done in CIVITAS cities in the past and other projects and initiatives, what could be learned from those experiences, and what the future outlook is. All of the Insights will be made available on the Key Publications page.

To support a shift towards more sustainable modes and provide visible results, a combination of infrastructural measures and information campaigns and educational efforts is needed. This is called social marketing for sustainable mobility, and is covered in Insight 07. Moreover, there is enormous potential for walking to contribute towards more sustainable mobility. A number of pioneering cities have already tapped in to this, some which are profiled in Insight 08. Finally, Insight 09 is about carpooling, which involves sharing rides among travellers in the same vehicle going to the same destination .
