SUNRISE helps Bremen to manage conflicts over street space

For years, private cars have taken a considerable amount of space in Hulsberg, the SUNRISE neighbourhood in Bremen. Cars have been blocking narrow streets, sidewalks and, on some occasions, firefighters and ambulances could not pass through during emergencies.
SUNRISE worked together with the city of Bremen to co-identify, co-validate, co-develop, co-select, and co-implement mobility measures in the neighbourhood of Hulsberg, with the intention of overcoming neighbourhood mobility challenges and fostering sustainable solutions.
A neighbourhood participation process in a variety of formats was introduced, such as on-tour-explorations, online and offline interactive meetings, and workshops to involve the inhabitants.
