Studying SUMPs In Summer
Over 60 people participated in the CIVITAS DYN@MO Summer University. The topic was “Engaging in a dynamic dialogue for Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning”.
The first edition of the DYN@MO Summer University took place in Palma de Mallorca during the last week of June. The programme offered the participants interesting plenary sessions on SUMPs throughout Europe and in different Spanish cities. In smaller working groups important challenges like stakeholder involvement, the use of web 2.0 tools and the selection of measures, were discussed in more detail. The contents from the different sessions will become available on the dedicated page in the events section of the CIVITAS website. The Lord Mayor of Palma, Mateo Isern, officially welcomed the participants in the plenary room of the City Council. He stressed the importance of knowledge sharing on SUMP for his city, since Palma is starting a new process for sustainable urban mobility planning this summer. On the second day, representatives from local Palma stakeholders discussed the challenges to be met in this planning process. The DYN@MO Summer University was organised by the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) in close co-operation with the city of Palma and the other partners of the CIVITAS DYN@MO consortium. The next edition of the Summer University is planned for May 2014.
