Spain's first electric mobility centre opened in Vitoria-Gasteiz

Vitoria-Gasteiz is proud to host the first electric mobility centre in Spain. The centre promotes and informs about electric vehicles, and coordinates the schedule for the city's e-car sharing service.

Vitoria-Gasteiz has proudly presented an innovative electric mobility centre where citizens can get first-hand information about the latest electric models presented by major manufacturers and information on financing models to purchase electric vehicles. The centre also coordinates the reservations and rental of electric vehicles from Repsol and IBILEK, a company founded by the Basque Government, to lease electric vehicles through a car-sharing system. The new mobility centre inaugurated by Xabier Garmendia, the Deputy Councilor of Industry and Energy of the Basque Government, and Juan Carlos Escudero, Director of the Centre for Environmental Studies of the Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz, is part of the various actions undertaken by the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, European Green Capital 2012, and by the Basque Government, through EVE (the Basque Energy Agency) for the implementation of electric vehicles in the city. The electric mobility centre also serves as a new base of operations for the car-sharing company IBILEK. In the centre, citizens and companies can sign up and rent a car of the electric car-sharing scheme. The mobility centre owns three charging points and IBILEK operates two of them. At these points, citizens can collect and deliver the rental cars of the e-car sharing company. The third charging point is public. Citizens and companies who has signed a contract with IBIL can charge their electrical vehicles at that point.
