Seminar on implementation of congestion charging

CIVITAS Initiative

On May 30 IMPACT arrange a seminar on implementation of congestion charging intended for practitioners. The day before - May 29 - results from the Stockholm Congestion Charging Trial are presented on a scientific conference as part of the selection procedure for a thematic issue of Transportation Research Part A.

The IMPACT seminar focus on driving forces for or against implementation of congestion charging. Practitioners from cities or regions that have, are going to, are discussing to, or have failed to implement congestion charging schemes are invited to the seminar. A selected number of the city representatives will give presentation on the implementation matters on their special case. In different workshops the practitioners and the researchers will exchange experiences on implementing measures such as congestion charging. Success and failure will be scrutinised, and the driving forces (pro and against) (pro et contra; for or against) such measures will be analysed. On the workshop on the Stockholm Congestion Charging Trial researchers - among them IMPACT researchers - will present results on the Stockholm Congestion Charging Trial . The results will include the design of the charging system, the outcome of the experiment, the design of the experiment, the monitoring process, the underlying political process, and the changes in attitudes and opinions. If you haven’t already done so please register by sending an email to Annika Nilssson (annika [dot] nilsson [at] trivector [dot] se) no later than May 14th. The seminar is intended for practitioners and policy makers from cities or regions that have, are going to, are discussing to, or have failed to implement congestion charging.Impact is a part of TransportMistra - a Swedish research program financed by Mistra. Impact’s objective is to develop, disseminate, market and implement knowledge, tools and models that will support decision making for sustainable mobility, primarily by increasing implementation efficiency. Impact’s research design builds on the collected wisdom of various disciplines brought in through the use of a selection of common focal points, and Stockholm congestion charging is one of them. For more information, see www.transportmistra.org.The day before - May 29, 2007 - results from the Stockholm Congestion Charging Trial will be presented at a scientific conference arranged by the Royal Institute of Technology together with Impact. Researchers will present results on the design of the charging system, the design and outcome of the experiment, the monitoring process, the underlying political process and the changes in attitudes and opinions. You may also attend this conference. The Final program for this day will follow shortly. Register for this day in a separate email to Annika Nilssson (annika [dot] nilsson [at] trivector [dot] se)
