Second minibus arrives in Brno

CIVITAS Initiative

A second 100 percent low-floor minibus arrived in Brno on 9 December 2009. The bus will first and foremost provide a service on special lines for handicapped citizens in Brno.

The bus was developed according to the needs of handicapped persons to allow their comfortable and safe transportation. The vehicle has a specifically redesigned interior and provides a service for up to six wheelchair-bound persons at the same time. Only simple adjustments are needed if the minibus is to provide service on standard lines.Five minibuses will provide the service gradually. Initially they will service special lines No. 81 and 82. Here they will replace older buses with high deck and a raising platform. Later these buses will service different lines with quieter connections, where a standard vehicle would not be economical (e.g. line 64).Before the end of 2010 the third minibus will be delivered, another two will arrive in the first term of the next year, thus achieving the totall number of five minibuses.Basic technical parameters:Length 8.635 mmWidth 2.190 mmHeight 2.620 mmWeight 5.400 kgNo. of passengers:20 people or 6 wheelchairs and escorts.
