Roadshow and European Mobility Week 2009 in Bologna

CIVITAS Initiative

The City of Bologna is going to participate in European Mobility Week, and will organise initiatives and events across the city, with the purpose of promoting sustainable mobility modalities and presenting provisions and plans that are in the pipeline to the citizens. A roadshow will take place to disseminate the CIVITAS MIMOSA project to the citizenship.

The European Mobility Week events in Bologna, supported by the Municipality of Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna Region, will also act as a platform to announce the MIMOSA project and the CIVITAS Initiative to the citizens. A roadshow will take place and a conference will be held to promote and disseminate the aim of the project and the measures that are planned. The focus of the 2009 edition is sustainable consumption and lifestyle. Under the title “Cycling along Kyoto”, the two-day event will highlight the use of bicycles as a sustainable means of transportation, combining environmentally friendly travelling with a healthy lifestyle. Many volunteers will cycle the symbolic route to Kyoto, a journey that will allow them to discover best practices of sustainability from other countries. During the entire week, a “Cycle Office” will be available for free bike check-ups and the application of the “registration mark” against theft. The Municipality of Bologna also joins to the “European day without cars” on 22 September, an event dedicated to the sustainable mobility modalities in public transport. The day will be an opportunity to present some new measures in the field of sustainable transport, such as the new methane urban buses, the new guided trolleybus system, the innovative e-ticketing system, and accessibility improvements at bus stops. The already eclectic program will be enriched by many live performances, a convention on sustainability and economy and workshops dedicated to the good practices and healthy and sustainable lifestyles. For more information and for the programme, visit the Events page.
