Record participation in a cycle event

More than 700 cyclists have been testing new bicycle paths during an event promoting European Car Free Day in Szczecinek.

The Mayor of Szczecinek, Mr Hardie Douglas was the active host of an event to promote  cycling. A mass of cyclists have tested the new bicycle lanes. Moreover, the organisers offered the participants a tour to other major CIVITAS RENAISSANCE achievements in the city. This created a perfect opportunity to interact with citizens, discuss sustainable mobility in the city and show how CIVITAS RENAISSANCE contributes to achieving local objectives. Leaflets and other materials were distributed to participants. Various activities were offered to children and young participants to promote the use of public transport and cycling in the city. The day finished with the traditional annual picnic. All of this aimed to influence and change travel behaviour, and to increase the awareness about the sustainable mobility principles in Szczecinek.
