Public event for stakeholders in Donostia-San Sebastián

CIVITAS Initiative

To provide local stakeholders with a better understanding of the CIVITAS Initiative, the city of Donostia-San Sebastián organised a public session during the ARCHIMEDES consortium meeting on 26-28 October. In the city council room, politicians and site managers from the ARCHIMEDES cities presented their local CIVITAS projects, after which there was a session for questions and answers as well as discussion with the stakeholders.

The idea for the public event originated from the desire to involve local stakeholders more in the international exchange process of the CIVITAS Initiative. A social event later on the day laid a further basis for continued contacts between the local stakeholders and representatives from Aalborg, Brighton & Hove, Monza, Iasi and Usti nad Labem. Before the public session, the Mayor of Donostia-San Sebastián and Councillors from ARCHIMEDES cities held a press conference about the progress of the ARCHIMEDES project. The ARCHIMEDES consortium meeting also included technical discussions and site visits on biodiesel, high quality public transport, cycling and walking, ways to get to school, and energy efficient freight logistics. Regional newspapers and local radio covered the event and, by doing so, further strengthened the CIVITAS brand.
