On 15 September, the first Trieste PORTIS day took place. It was the perfect opportunity for residents of the Italian port city to become acquainted with the project and learn about the associated sustainable mobility measures.
The mobility strategies being developed as part of PORTIS are leading to a redefiniton of the relationship between the city and its port.
More than 400 children were given guided tours of the Old Port of Trieste, which combines a grand historical past with bold plans for a modern urban future.
A design contest on the theme the "Mobility of the Future" was also organised for local school children, with an exhibition held to display their work. Over 70 individual works and 11 collective works were seen by the close to 200 children who came.
Ending the day was an interview with Trieste PORTIS ambassador Lino Guanciale. Over 100 people heard him talk about his experiences of the city.
The second PORTIS General Assembly also took place during the same time period, lasting from 14-15 September.
