Opportunity for CIVITAS cities to collaborate with China
Mayors from CIVITAS cities interested in co-operating with Chinese peers are encouraged to get involved in the EU-China Mayors' Forum that was initiated by Chinese Prime Minister Jiabao and European Commission President Barroso.
The annual EU-China Mayors' Forum is a core element of the newly-launched EU-China Urbanisation Partnership with the key objective of co-creating new models of sustainable, low-carbon city planning. This high level political forum holds its first meeting in Brussels on 20 September 2012. In the afternoon, a special two-hour session is envisaged that seeks to inform Chinese mayors about CIVITAS through examples from two to three cities. Further details including an agenda will be published in the coming weeks. If your city is interested in cooperating with Chinese counterparts and if you are keen to contribute to the success of this event, please contact JSimpson[at]rec.org before 30 July.
