Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
The CIVITAS Initiative is wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! For nearly a decade, the work of the CIVITAS Initiative has had a great positive impact on sustainable transport in almost 60 cities across Europe.
The past year has once more been a successful year for CIVITAS cities across Europe. Most measures are now in place and are helping to improve the quality of life for European citizens. Numerous events, trainings and workshops provided ample opportunities for experts and local administrations to exchange experiences. The highlight of the year was certainly the CIVITAS Forum conference, the annual urban transport flagship event. At the conference that took place in the capital of the Maderan archipelago, Funchal, CIVITAS Forum Network members gathered to learn from each other and reaffirm their commitment to sustainable urban transport. In 2012, CIVITAS will celebrate its tenth anniversary. We are looking forward to another year of working towards cleaner and better transport in cities. Next year, many of the activities our demonstration cities have implemented will be evaluated. We anticipate the results from our “living laboratories” with excitement and hope that their experiences will help and inspire many cities across Europe and beyond.
