On 10 November 2009, at the UNESCO week dedicated to the Education on Sustainable Development, the Municipality of Monza together with CREDA onlus, organised a Learning history workshop on School Travel Plans.
The main aim of the workshop was to search for and analyse, together with parents, teachers, school directors and local technicians, the experiences and best practices realised and adopted by Monza and other mid-size cities in the Province of Monza and Brianza. All the people participated actively, and their analysis of the opportunities and strengths as well as of the actions to be undertaken and the obstacles to be faced was in depth and will be useful for the identification of some of the futures steps that have to be considered when implementing of this measure. For instance, broader dissemination of the project, targeting the families of the children who are not yet involved in the design and experimentation of the Home-School pedestrian paths, and more information about the material and immaterial infrastructures to be provided, were suggested.
