Launch of CIVINET Slovenia-Croatia

CIVITAS Initiative

The CIVINET consortium is pleased to announce the launch of the latest CIVITAS National/regional Network joining cities in the countries of Slovenia and Croatia.

The network was launched during a meeting in Ljubljana on April 25th 2013.  Twenty-seven cities and other organisations signed a Memorandum expressing their commitment to the network, of which 15 are from Slovenia and 12 from Croatia.  Mr Zoran Jankovic, Mayor of Ljubljana, welcomed delegates to the event.  He was joined by Mrs. Polona Demšarm Mitrovič from the Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning.  Mrs Helena Hecimovic, representing the city of Koprivnica, presented the draft Action Plan for the network, and reminded delegates that Croatia will become the newest Member State of the European Union on 1st July. The creation of CIVINET Slovenia-Croatia follows two years of discussions between REC-Slovenia, ODRAZ, Sustainable Community Development, the cities of Ljubljana and Koprivnica and the CIVINET consortium.  Jose Maria Diez, the CIVINET Project Coordinator, said “I am delighted to see the creation of this new network, which is a perfect end-result for our activities.  Although the CIVINET project itself is coming to an end, the CIVINET Networks will continue and more new networks will be launched in the coming months.”
