On Friday, July 7th, 2006 the CiViTAS-CARAVEL measure „New Leisure Related Mobility Services” was officially opened by MPK, the local public transport operator, in Krakow. 15 new bike carry facilities were installed on buses. This measure is completed now and was realized within the CiViTAS-CARAVEL project. This initiative met with very good reactions of Krakow’s citizens (therein cyclists) and journalists of two main local and one of the national newspapers. A report from this opening was also shown twice (on Friday, July 7th, 2006, and on Saturday, July 8th, 2006) in the local TV programme TVP3. The launch of this new service is widely commented and passengers admit that MPK should keep going this way - the right one.Additional a detailed map of Krakow was published showing the bus lines on which the new service will be offered. This map was also published in newspapers. The routes were chosen according to the attractiveness of the places where there are possibilities of taking a bike tour.
