Various diverse approaches towards planning inter-modal transport and building multimodal hubs, integrating different roles of transport modes in urban areas were presented. The workshop contributed to best practice exchange on a European level and helped the participants to learn from unsound solutions.
The workshop was organized within one of CIVITAS ELAN’s measures, led by the City of Brno. Inter-modal hubs represent a key point for travel by means of integrated transport systems. Seminars for experts and interested public ensured broad discussions of this issue on local, national as well as European level, which is considered decisive for changing hubs planning and construction. The key points were addressed such as relation between transfer hubs and railway and different modes of public transport, which are part of a sound transport management.
