Increasing road safety for children in Ústí nad Labem

CIVITAS Initiative

Ústí nad Labem is implementing a public campaign to increase road safety in the city. Within the CIIVTAS public campaign "Drive safely“, Ústí nad Labem awarded child scooters, mobile traffic signs and traffic lights and safety stop disks to the municipal police for their traffic court. The traffic court serves to all the primary schools in the city and is visited by every pupil from the 4th grade.

Children are taught basic traffic rules and practice correct behaviour in city traffic both as pedestrians and as cyclists. They learn how to move safely in the streets and how to read traffic signs and understand traffic signals. Major importance is laid on their safety on roads of the city. The CIVITAS team provided the municipal police with tests to assess progress of children from their first to last lesson on the traffic court. The results will be elaborated in the study of road safety measures in Ústí nad Labem.
