Host the CIVITAS Forum Annual Conference 2012 - Call for Expressions of Interests
The CIVITAS Secretariat hereby invites Expressions of Interest from European cities interested in hosting the CIVITAS Forum’s next annual conference which in 2012 will give high visibility to the results arising from the CIVITAS Plus phase of the initiative. The event typically takes place in the autumn of each year, with the 2012 conference serving as the 10th such annual meeting, following forums hosted in Funchal, Malmö, Krakow, Bologna, Kaunas, Burgos, Nantes, Rotterdam and Graz, where the series started in 2003.
The event will ‘close’ the third phase of CIVITAS known as CIVITAS Plus, as well as ‘launch’ the fourth, known as CIVITAS Plus II. Special attention will therefore be accorded in 2012 to highlighting the results and discussing the outcomes experienced within CIVITAS Plus cities. For this reason, the event will run across three full days. As always, the occasion will serve as an opportunity for the exchange of dialogue and views between CIVITAS Forum city network representatives and European politicians on the one hand, and experts in the field of urban mobility on the other. Typically around 400 persons attend the event, which affords significant visibility to the host city to demonstrate and share success and achievement in the field of clean and sustainable urban transport. Interest from CIVITAS Plus cities is particularly welcome.Upon receipt of your EoI, the Secretariat will send you guidance documentation that provides further information about what is involved in hosting the CIVITAS Forum Conference, the costs, benefits, and how to submit a formal application. The deadline for this will be 31st August, 2011. The CIVITAS Political Advisory Committee (PAC) will review and select the winning bid at the latest by the 17th October, 2011. The successful host city will also be invited to sign the CIVITAS Forum declaration (if it hasn´t already), through which it more formally commit to implement clean and sustainable urban transport policies.
