Help us choose the winner of the CIVITAS Young Champion award

The 2022 CIVITAS Awards will be given out in two categories: the Transformation Award, which has been running since 2016, and the brand-new Young Champion Award. Applications in both categories were submitted to our esteemed jury in early-July.

Finalists in the Young Champion category have been identified, and now we need your help choosing the winner!

On Thursday, 21 July, we will share 1-minute videos on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter that introduce each of the three finalists in the inaugural Young Champion Award.

From 21-28 July (inclusive), all are invited to vote for their favourite finalist by “liking”, “sharing” or “retweeting” that finalist’s video. Each like, share, or retweet counts as one point – the finalist with the most points on 28 July will be declared the first ever CIVITAS Young Champion!

Meet the finalists (in alphabetical order by first name):

András Vágány works for the Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK). In this role, he has worked on CIVITAS projects like SUMPs-Up, Cities-4-People, and FastTrack. In his 1-minute video, András explains, “Making Budapest more liveable is not just a career path to me: it is my dream.”

Iulia Dorobantu is an architect, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Charger.ro, an integrated platform for green and smart solutions. Her organisation has partnered with CIVINET Romania to create educational content and raise sustainable mobility awareness. She explains, “My goal is to bring green urban mobility and clean and local energy to every home and office in Europe.”

Memo Buijs is an Urban Development student in Breda (the Netherlands), who has joined CIVITAS conferences, as well as events on Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs). He shares his vision, “I don't feel that youth is sufficiently represented... I ask that we make [this award] stand for something.”

Get ready to vote: follow CIVITAS on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter so that you are ready to watch the videos and vote for your favourites as soon as voting opens on 21 July.
