Guidelines for safer use of public transport for elderly
CIVITAS ELAN has issued practical guidelines for safer use of public transport for elderly people. Partners in Zagreb collaboriated during the past few months to gather and review information to increase safety.
The guidelines provide all the necessary information concerning the ticketing system for trams and buses, as well as important suggestions on how to behave on public transport (PT) vehicles in order to stay safe during the drive and when entering or exiting the vehicle. There are also a number of important contacts and useful telephone numbers for information on PT (bus and tram timetables; information on transport of passengers using Wheelchair, etc.). The guidelines have been presented to residents of two senior citizens` homes in Zagreb and to a wider public during the International Day of Older Persons in October. The partners involved in the preparation of the guidelines are ODRAZ, Zagreb Municipal Transit System and the City Office for the Strategic Planning and Development of the City.
