Funchal unveiled as the host for the CIVITAS Forum Conference 2011
Congratulations to the well deserved winners, Funchal CIVITAS MIMOSA, chosen as hosts for the CIVITAS Forum Conference 2011. Since joining CIVITAS, the Funchal CIVITAS MIMOSA team have consistently taken an innovative and committed approach to CIVITAS, as well as to Funchal’s urban mobility network politically, technically and communications wise.
Funchal is the capital of Maderia, with a population of 104,000. (245,000 inhabitants live in Madeira). The city itself has an area of 75km2, with a population density of 1,387 inhabitants. Known world wide for its history, nature and above all, for the surrounding mountains, Funchal is situated in one of the most beautiful amphitheatres of the world.The city is now eager to welcome CIVITAS representatives, representatives, researchers and all other interested individuals and groups who want to find out more about urban mobility policies and initiatives.Well done Funchal and we look forward to visiting you next year.
