First CIVITAS training workshop takes place in November

CIVITAS Initiative

The first CIVITAS training workshop on successful transport decision making through stakeholder consultation and engagement processes to support CIVITAS Plus cities, takes place in Ghent, Belgium from 18 - 19 November.

Organised in cooperation with CIVITAS ELAN, the workshop will provide participants with the relevant theoretical background and management and engagement tools. It will present several interesting case studies and good practice examples, while interactive exercises will give cities the necessary support for their local actions.Throughout Europe many promising and innovative concepts for a more sustainable urban mobility are being developed. All these initiatives lead to extensive practical experience and expertise in developing and implementing sustainable transport schemes, but also in decision-making processes, in failing as well as in learning how to improve. In particular, decision-making processes can be weakly structured and confronted with barriers. For example, a mobility management measure which was politically supported in the beginning, suddenly meets with a lot of objections and opponents while putting the measure into practice, because of which in the end politicians avoid taking a decision.Whether implementing a new cycling network or installing new tramlines, all projects demand certain decision making and management tools to be used and stakeholders to be involved. Successful transport decisions need to have a well organised project management system as well as stakeholder consultation and engagement. The CIVITAS workshop will deal with all of these issues and more.Registration Form
