Exchanging and sharing experiences on bicycle planning

CIVITAS Initiative

On 23 February the City of Aalborg had a visit from Brighton & Hove City Council. The meeting was a good opportunity for the planners from the two cities to exchange knowledge and share experiences regarding bicycle initiatives.

The visit took place due to a wish from the Brighton & Hove City Council planners to investigate how bicycle planning is handled in Denmark. The visit was an opportunity to discover how the City of Aalborg has worked with bicycle planning and to exchange and share ideas about the present cycle initiatives that are running as part of the CIVITAS ARCHIMEDES programme.Apart from a presentation and discussion of the possibilities and challenges regarding bicycle planning in the two different cities, the visit also included a tour around the city centre. The tour gave the guests a chance to see the bicycle solutions in practice and to get an idea of how cyclists’ solutions are handled within the city.
