Events held during Mobility Week 2007

CIVITAS Initiative

Continuing on from the events held in other years, in the European Mobility Week 2007 once again the public turned out on the streets of Burgos to enjoy the city centre and its streets with traffic-calming measures, the bicycle workshops and an exhibition on Burgos, a city with sustainable transport.

Once again, thousands of citizens took advantage of the traffic-calming measures during the European Mobility Week 2007, including the experimental 30km/h-zones, which are included in a CiViTAS CARAVEL study. Other events organised were the ring-ring operation where more than 2000 bike bells were given out. During the morning of Mobility Day, workshops were also held on bicycle maintenance as well as presentations by cyclist explorers from Burgos that have travelled the world. The events were complemented by an exhibition on Burgos and its sustainable transport, where the public could see the improvements introduced by CiViTAS CARAVEL, as well as panels depicting mobility studies and other measures carried out in the city. There were some other actions held during the Mobility Week, as one in co-operation Bridgestone. This company promoted sustainable transport (bicycle, car pooling, walking) during the week and also organized conferences and gave promotional material in collaboration with CiViTAS CARAVEL.
