European Mobility Week in La Rochelle

CIVITAS Initiative

This year, the European Mobility Week has proved again a very good opportunity to promote sustainable mobility and CIVITAS in La Rochelle. On several occasions in September, the inhabitants had the possibility to discover the wide range of public transport modes available and to leave their car at home.

From 16-22 September in the evening, workshops dedicated to specific targets enabled to learn about the ongoing projects and about the alternative transport modes in La Rochelle, but also to exchange with local political leaders on each of the proposed topics: bike, bus, car sharing, carpooling etc. Participants were invited as well to be part of user groups and to become “mobility ambassadors”… 50 to 80 people attended to these sessions every day.On 17 September, around 300 people came to visit a stand dedicated to the promotion of alternative transport modes existing in La Rochelle (bus, seabus, bike/bikesharing, electric carsharing, carpooling, P+R, train) and of the CIVITAS Initiative, which is contributing to many of these achievements. From 15th September to 10th October, a photo exhibition in La Rochelle depicts these alternatives to the private car. The CIVITAS-SUCCESS project is also being presented to the public.24 September: CarFreeDay in La Rochelle.
