European Mobility Awards
Two European mobility awards up for grabs
Local authorities can apply for two different award schemes recognising their efforts to promote sustainable urban mobility.
The European Mobility Week (EMW) has launched the 2013 version of its annual award for the local authority that has done the most to promote and raise awareness around sustainable urban mobility. The winner will be used as an example of best practice for other local authorities and will be awarded with a free promotional video. To be eligible, candidates should have participated in the European Mobility Week 2013 between 16-22 September, including organising a car-free day. They must also be signatories of the EMW charter. Applications, to include a signed version of the charter, should be submitted by 1 November 2013.
Meanwhile, the European Commission’s sustainable urban mobility campaign, Do the Right Mix, has announced its EU Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan award of €10,000. It rewards cities and regions that have put together plans to meet the major challenge for sustainable urban mobility planning. City authorities do not need to complete the entire process of developing and implementing a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan to be eligible. The deadline for applications is also 1 November 2013.
