ELAN cities celebrate second CIVITAS Day
During the mobility week all five CIVITAS ELAN cities will celebrate their second CIVITAS day. Various activities are undertaken in the CIVITAS ELAN cities, for example the inauguration of the mobility shop in Porto, photo competitions and various information stands about the CIVITAS actions.
The first CIVITAS day last year was a raving success with many CIVITAS related actions undertaken. Now the five CIVITAS ELAN cities will seize the chance to resume their successful work and start to organise the second CIVITAS day. The main focus of the activities will be to show citizens the value of CIVITAS and its actions. It will also be an excellent opportunity to share ideas with the citizens and respective stakeholder groups. Another CIVITAS ELAN dayLjubljana: In Ljubljana the activities will take place in the pedestrian zones in the main square and surrounding areas. The ELAN team will prepare a series of events throughout the Mobility Week, such as an exhibition in the city hall, round tables and a cycling parade. During CIVITAS day an interactive info-point “Radio CIVITAS” and a “Café ELAN” will be installed, accompanied by several other activities.Zagreb: To explain the public bicycle system, ODRAZ will rent out ten bicycles and will organise a free ride for journalists and interested citizens together with Bicikl. Also, a photo competition with the theme “Travel smarter - Live better” will be organised. Brno: This year CIVITAS day in Brno will be devoted to educating the public about vandalism in the city’s transport facilities. Visitors will be allowed to spray and spoil the CIVITAS bus and subsequently they have to try to remove their creations again. Several competitions will be prepared not only for children in cooperation with the Brno City Police. Brno will also announce the results of the CIVITAS summer competition.Porto: Porto will inaugurate the Mobility Shop and will present the innovative services that will be available there. Furthermore, gadgets and various kinds of CIVITAS information products will be distributed.Gent: The Gent CIVITAS day is embedded in the Car Free Day taking place in the entire city at six main squares. The team of Gent will showcase the work done within CIVITAS ELAN up to now. They will build up the CIVITAS stand, which includes eight information boards and presentations of several biking measures, such as bike parking boxes and student bikes. There will also be a separate kids’ corner and kids’ animation section.
