Coimbra represents CIVITAS at World Leader in Geographic Information event

CIVITAS Initiative

Coimbra Site Coordinator Luís Santos attended the 2011 National Convention of a World Leader in Geographic Information Systems. The event, held on 3 March 2011, was attended by 1,000 participants nationwide, from both public and private sectors, including high representatives from the Portuguese Institute for Mobility and Inland Transport.

During the convention Mr. Santos presented “The Contribution of GIS to Sustainable Mobility” , focusing on various experiences of the MODERN Project. The paper discussed the SMTUC Trip Planner RUMOS, developed with the participation of Critical Software, a Portuguese local company. It also focused on GIS technology state of the art. The presentation stirred the interest of various national press organizations. Interviews were published online and on mobility and environment specialised magazines.
