Closure event MOBI WEEKS Gent
On 18 September, all employees who participated in the first MOBI WEEKS were invited to the closure event at lunch time. Earlier during these MOBI WEEKS, cyclists could enjoy a nice breakfast, followed by a leg massage, car-poolers could drive their car into the CIVITAS carwash, and the red carpet was rolled out for public transport users, who also got free newspapers.
Everyone who subscribed to our local CIVITAS website and who came to work in a more ‘sustainable’ way, had the chance to win one of many prices at the closure event, sponsored by many local companies and the City of Gent. A music band played jazz while everyone could enjoy a nice meal out in the sun with colleagues. During the event employees were able to benefit from a free bike repair and bikes were given a register number against theft. Employees could also challenge each other with the game “popping balloons on bicycles”. And last, but not least, the total number of cycled kilometres from and to work was sponsored by the employers. The money (€ 2 255) was donated to the environmental organisation ‘Natuurpunt’!Since it was the first action of its kind to be organised in this businesspark, the participation of more than 500 people was a real success. There was also a good media interest, with coverage from the local TV station AVS at the closure event.
